„Weltschal means world scarf,
it shows the colours of the world“
Sibilla Pavenstedt, fashion designer
Initiator of Made auf Veddel, an integration project in Hamburg, Germany and the Weltschal Project
The world scarf takes a stand for cosmopolitanism, diversity and integration: Flags of the world united!
From the very beginning the World Scarf Project was about integration: Volunteers from all over the world, artists and refugees knitted and crocheted the flags. The women from Made auf Veddel also worked on the world scarf.
In 2015 the worls scarf celebrated its premiere at the Hamburg Rathausmarkt. Since then it has been on the road to demonstrate open-mindedness – from Hamburg and Cologne to St. Petersburg and on to Bremen, Lauenbrück, Bad Oldesloe and Worpswede. And the story goes on: The next stop of the World Scarf is Italy, where the World Scarf will decorate the dome of the Tempio Votivo della Pace di Venezia.
With a flag sponsorship you help this unique project live on! Each sponsorship also includes a donation to the association Made auf Veddel to continue the integration through arts and crafts in a refugee project in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and on the Veddel.
World scarf TV coverage:
• The world scarf at Hamburg City Hall - summary
• The world scarf premiere in Hamburg - the documentation
• Knitting for Made auf Veddel - a portrait of the knitter Nacyie Aslan by the german broadcast corporation NDR
„Hamburg sends a signal to the world!“
Andy Grote, Executive Director for the Interior and Sports of the City of Hamburg
Everybody can become a sponsor
A sponsorship of a flag amounts to 1.000 Euro as a donation for the integration project Made auf Veddel or the refugee project in Wilhelmsburg. You will of course receive a donation receipt for the entire amount. Up to four sponsorships can be awarded for each flag, to private individuals, companies, foundations and the responsible consulates.
Are you interested in a sponsorship?
A flag sponsorship is € 1.000; of course we're also happy about smaller donations to the Weltschal Project!
It doesn't matter whether you want to sponsor a flag or make a donation to the project in the amount of your choice: you can transfer directly to the account below or contact us by e-mail. You are also welcome to call Made auf Veddel on +49 40 2610 1757, please ask for Jochen Ambacher.
